Before becoming a portrait sculptor Jane grew up in Merseyside in a large show business family so it was natural to go into the theatre as a scenic artist and prop maker. After training at The Guildhall School of Music & Drama in London, she worked in the professional theatre and television for many years painting sets and sculpting everything from fake heads to polystyrene gargoyles. Jane later trained at Stafford Art College in traditional figurative sculpture and although she still worked occasionally in TV prop and scenic departments (most recently making props for BBC's In The Night Garden), she mostly specialise in portrait sculpture from her studio in Shrewsbury, Shropshire.

Jane has been commissioned to sculpt famous names including The late gardener Percy Thrower, Linda McCartney, the cartoon character Andy Capp, The Queen Mother and Steeplejack Fred Dibnah and my smaller bronze limited edition bronzes are sold through a gallery in Shropshire.

For many years now, in between sculpting commissions, she has taught art workshops throughout the UK. Here she helps to bring skills in figurative sculpture to a new generation of budding sculptors in schools, colleges and community centres. In fact - anywhere students are interested in sculpture (and that's pretty much everywhere!)

Jane has taught sculpture to special needs students within school settings and worked with the charity "Saving Faces", set up to support facially disfigured patients in hospital.
